As we reported earlier, LavaCon 2010 will be held Sept. 29–Oct. 2, 2010 at the Omni Hotel San Diego. This conference is designed to help several different groups learn more about technical writing as well as digital media.

The conference is expected to be effective for the following groups:

  • Content Strategists
  • Documentation Managers
  • Technical Writers and Editors
  • Social Media Strategists
  • Marketing Professionals
  • Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

By helping these groups learn more about the latest strategies and ideas about technical media issues, LavaCon helps to create a connection between those who are doing the work and the market itself. Because changes occur each day in the technical writing field, constant information and training is needed to ensure that those in the field can keep up.

Technical writing courses not only allow for continued training, but also for sharing with other writers or companies which hire technical writers. By taking the time to network with others at this conference, not only can people begin to learn from each other, but they can also expand upon their ideas related to writing and to the management of writing teams.

This conference will also be helpful to those hiring technical writers as it allows these companies or organizations to better understand the place of writers in the market and how to manage them to produce user friendly and effective content.

The LavaCon 2.0 conference is in its eighth year, and the group of participants only grows larger. Learning how to manage digital content is essential in these times of greater online presence needs and worries. Technical writers and editors need to know how their writing is being used and how they can make it most effective.
